Missions

Cameron United Methodist Church is active in many mission areas locally, nationally, and internationally.  We have a different mission focus each month for the church at large and our children and youth complete a mission activity once/month as well.  We have a team of volunteers that go to Haiti every year so some months we will focus on equipping them with travel funds, supplies and water filters for their trip.  Locally, we support Backpack Buddies, the Green Hills Women's Shelter, Cameron Food Pantry, Adopt-a-Family, and Toys for Tots.  The church prepares shoesboxes each November for Operation Christmas Child and CUMC's Prayer Shawl Ministry cares and prays for those who have been ill, in the hospital, have had surgery, have had a baby, or a death in the family.

Many of our members serve in the Cameron community as volunteers - at the hospital, the library, the Veterans Home, the food pantry & clothes closet, and the Green Hills Women's Shelter.

The Sunday after Easter and the Saturday closest to September 11 are special days of mission service for the entire congregation.  Projects we have completed in the past include local reservoir clean-up; highway clean-up; moving playground equipment to the Women's Shelter; tearing down a condemned building; repairing or building decks and ramps; making cards to distribute at the local hospital; and packing 10,000-25,000 emergency meals for distribution in times of disaster.
