Dan Brown

I grew up in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, attended University of Missouri-Rolla (now ‘Missouri S&T’), and then Iowa State University. I worked in the aluminum can industry as a Process Engineering Manager for fifteen years. In 2000, life took an unexpected turn as I sensed God calling me to change careers and enter full-time pastoral ministry. So, we packed up and headed to Kentucky where I attended Asbury Theological Seminary and graduated with an MDiv. Since 2004, I have been serving as a pastor in the Missouri Annual Conference. In July 2019, I became the ‘new’ pastor at Cameron UMC.

I’ve been married to Deb Bolton for 34 years. Deb grew up near Lexington, KY and is an avid UK fan. We enjoy sports, the outdoors, and spending time with our family. We have two grown children. Our daughter, Elizabeth and son-in-law Jesse live on Long Island and are the parents of our only grandchild (so far!), Mathis. Our son, Christopher and daughter-in-law Lisa recently moved to Philadelphia where Chris began his residency at UPenn.

Deb and I look forward to joining the folks at Cameron UMC as together we seek to become people who live and love like Jesus and thus, make a positive, lasting difference in the lives of other people in the community and throughout the world.

Director of Children's Ministry

Dawn Gabauer

Dawn Gabauer is the Director of Children’s Ministries at CUMC. Dawn has worked in the medical field as a registered medication technician, restorative therapist, chiropractic office manager and licensed massage therapist, and has extensive experience in meeting and event planning as well. Dawn was previously employed at the Cameron Public Library, creating and implementing fun, interactive, educational programs for children, teens, and adults. No one was more surprised at God’s call to serve this church in this position than she, but to His call, she did answer. After she was hired to work with both children and youth in November 2014, Dawn attended various educational programs, seminars and conventions allowing her to network with other children’s and youth pastors and to equip herself with tools and knowledge in both of these fields. She then enrolled in Youthsphere, a leading online certification program featuring nationally known youth ministry experts to gain further insight and deeper engagement with her students. With the hiring of Kobey Puls, Dawn will now be able to focus all her energy on our youngest members, birth - 6th Grade.

Dawn enjoys working with people of all ages and seeks to be continuously growing in faith, knowledge and leadership. She is a Stephen Minister and is active in many other church ministries including our prayer team, and mission team. Originally from Alden, New York, Dawn is married, has two wonderful children and four adorable grandchildren. She and her husband Tary moved to Cameron in 2008, excited to put down some roots and establish some great relationships within this community. They enjoy spending time with family and friends, fishing, and working on projects together.
