MORE ABOUT OUR PROGRAM:
The AEL program has been part of the community since 1954, when Principal Ruth Huston established it as a service to the community. The program serves the counties of Andrew, Buchanan, Caldwell, Clinton, Daviess, DeKalb, and Harrison. The St. Joseph Adult Education & Literacy (AEL) Program’s main site is at the Robert Keatley Center, 1202 S. 28th St., in St. Joseph. In addition to the central location at the Keatley Center, AEL has satellite locations in Cameron and at Youth Alliance in St. Joseph. We also serve offenders at WRDCC in St. Joseph. Our program serves approximately 850 students per year through our High School Equivalency (HSE) and English Language programs. During the 2024-2025 school year, we had 135 High School Equivalency graduates, 22 of whom were from Cameron.
